Up to 3 Giveaways Encourage Attendance
A big summer giveaway by the Up to 3 program at Utah State University’s Center for Persons with Disabilities is one way to encourage attendance at community activities, said Kim Allen, Up to 3 service coordinator.
Upcoming community activities being planned for Up to 3 families include swimming at the Logan Aquatic Center, splash pad support for kids with autism, a picky eater picnic and a “man-tastic” weenie roast at Willow Park.
“Every time they come to activities, they’ll get a ticket to put in the box,” Allen said. “The more they come, the more chances they have to win.”
Prizes include educational items from www.babysteals.com, a one-hour photo session with local photographer Lindy Clark, and goodies from Stork Landing.
The drawing will be July 31. Up to 3 families can get details about community activities from their service coordinators.
There are several reasons for the community activities, Allen said.
“It provides social support for families out in the community, and it lets us meet them somewhere other than in their homes,” she said. “And, families with medically fragile children are more likely to come to events if they know there will be someone there that they know, who can support them.”
