ASL Interpreter Mentor

Holly Nelson, Ph.D., is an interpreter mentor for TAESE at Utah State University. Dr. Nelson’s experience spans over 25 years and includes ASL-English interpreting, teaching, mentoring, program development, and assessment. She has worked and taught in academic, community, government, and corporate settings. She has specialized in decision making/ethics, program review/development, experiential learning/mock interpreting, and test preparation. She has developed programs that focus on heritage learners of ASL, Deaf interpreters, and internships in VRS settings. She is also passionate about deliberate/reflective practice and expressing her creativity in her work. Dr. Nelson maintains National Interpreter Certification with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf at the master level, holds Utah Professional certification, and an EIPA credential.
