After graduating from Idhao State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education and Physical Education, Mark started his education career in December, 1996. For nine years, Mark served as a special education teacher at Idaho Falls High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho. During his teaching career Mark worked closely with general education staff, students, and parents in establishing Least Restrictive Learning Environments for students with disabilities. Due to this experience, Mark developed a desire to serve in school administration and earned his Master of Education Degree in Education Administration from Idaho State University. In 2005, Mark was selected for his first principal position with Snake River School District #52 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
In spring 2008, Mark was recruited by Nonpareil Corporation as National Food Service Manager of Frozen Potato Products. His opportunity in the private sector provided Mark an education in domestic and international business practices, negotiations, & marketing. During this time in the private sector, Mark earned his Ed.S Degree in Education Leadership from the University of Idaho.
In April, 2012, Mark was selected as Superintendent of Snake River School District #52 in Blackfoot, Idaho. His achievements as superintendent includes: spearheading the passage of two multi-million dollar supplemental tax levies, updating the district technology infrastructure, developing partnerships with Idaho State University and Adali Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire Illinois, establishing new district academic programs and increasing student academic achievement. Working closely with Adali Stevenson High School, provided Snake River Staff the opportunity to learn and implement Professional Learning Communities throughout the school district. Lastly, Mark was named Idaho Education and Technology Association Administrator of the Year in 2014.
In 2015, Mark went on to accept the position of Director of Office of Student and School Support with Nevada Department of Education. As director, Mark was responisble for the State of Nevada Federal Title I, Part A & Part D; (Neglected and Delinquent) Programs; Tilte III Part C Migrant & ELL; Title IV 21st Century; GEAR UP; Title VII Indian, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native Education; Title VII-B-Mckinney Vento HEA; Nevada School Improvement, Striving Readers, Read by Grade 3, Victory/Zoom Programs.
